Commas, Commas, Commas (Wk 19)

This week, take what you know about commas and the warm ups we've been doing and apply it! Write a paragraph with at least 5 sentences about a school appropriate topic of your choosing. In that paragraph use three different comma rules - see the Tool Box Section of your LA Spiral if you need help remembering!

This would be an excellent place to practice using the rules that were not marked as "Exceeding" on your Comma Formative Assessment!

Something that I like to do in my spare time is drawing or painting. Currently, I want to get a lot better at drawing a variety of subjects accurately. This will most likely take a long time, but I think I'll be able to by the end of this year. After doing this, I want to improve my painting skills, and hopefully someday end up as a successful artist. I'm pretty sure that I started drawing seriously in August, 2010, and I've come a long way since then.

Today is February 4, 2013. I have missed the bus, and I texted my mom asking to come pick me up. This is the first time I've missed my bus. I was talking with some friends earlier, and I must've lost track on what I was supposed to be doing. My mom replies to my text saying she's coming to the school. I wait. Nothing happens. I look down for a while, and suddenly a man is in front of me. He's wearing a black jacket, dark jeans, and big boots. But that's not the only thing that makes me feel weird. He's wearing dark sunglasses and he's not smiling. With a deep, unusual accent, he says, "Come with me if you want to live."

One day, I was walking to Pizza Schmizza with my best friend Julia. We had a really great time, as always, and then begin to walk home. As we walked home, something unusual catches our gaze. A guy dressed in all black looked across the street and quickly leapt over the fence surrounding a family's yard. We started to freak out, of course, and wondered what to do. We ultimately had two choices. Calling the cops, or leaving it be. "Should I yell something at him to see if he hears me?" I asked. She looked at me as if i was crazy and replied, "No! Of course not! You could get hurt if that guy turns out to be dangerous!" We were very scared, nervous, and antsy, so we made sure to hurry home and tell a parent what happened.

My favorite subject in school is PE. I like PE because it keeps me awake, there are fun activities, and all my other classes are boring. In PE, I am always moving, so staying awake is a lot easier. There are also fun activities, like hoopball and survivor. Currently, all my classes are really boring, and I want to fall asleep in all of them. When i fall asleep, i usually miss all the important parts.

Dianna Agron, a talented triple-threat performer, is twenty-six years old. She was born on April 30, 1986. Agron has been in many movies and shows, but she is most famous as Quinn Fabray from the hit TV series Glee. She was born in Savannah, Georgia, although she lived in Texas and in California growing up. Her father was Jewish, and her mother converted to Judaism. When she was 12 years old, she had a Bat Mitzvah. Dianna Agron is a beautiful dancer, and she had been dancing since she was three years old. In 2009, Dianna Agron auditioned for the TV show Glee, singing Fly Me to the Moon as her audition song. This audition was extremely successful, and Dianna is still part of the remarkable show. I hope to be as famous as Dianna Agron when I grow older, granted I would pursue the acting business.

Today is February 5, 2013. This blog is due February 7, 2013. This blog is always easy to do because it is fast, and short. I usually wait, about a day before, to do the blog. Sometimes this is the only homework I have. I like those days, and I also like the days when there is no blog.

Soon, I have to give a speech in communications about myself. This speech, which is due one week from now, is a shoebox speech. Our class is working on transitions for our speech in class. We also have to work on introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions. However, comma rules still apply.

It's October 18th, 2028. I am scavenging, for anything that could be useful, on a destroyed cityscape which was once, New York. There is nothing here, just rubble from the old buildings, and apartments. I looked across the street at an old grocery store. I hoped that I could find some food, but it was totally wiped clean. It was getting dark, so I began looking for a place to sleep. At night, hunters and bandits come out to find anything, so I have to be hidden. I found an old advertisement board, and got in a little trench, and placed the board over it. This should keep me warm and safe.

Something I like to do is sing. I practice a lot, because i'm trying out to be in a band. I've been singing the same song repeatedly, almost everywhere i am, because I really wanna get in. I'm going to try out to be a back up singer, not the best thing i know, but it would still be fun. Hopefully I get in!

I would never forget the day that everything changed. Seriously, it was February 14, 2045. That is not the point though, the point is that something happened that day. Something scary, horrifying, and down right awful. It had happened. The it that would take over the best holiday ever, also know by humans as Valentines day.

Commas, they're a great thing, they do many differnts things in writing. I was born on July 10th, 2000 and the world was a better place starting on that date. Although I live in oregon, I was born in Bulgaria. I love commas, and I can't get enough of them. I draw in my spare time, play soccer, and hang out with friends. I have learned alot on commas, and can't wait to use them some more!!

One usual, cold day, I had just woken up and taken a shower. I got ready, but I didnt feel right. I ignored the feeling and realized i better go to the bus. On my way to the bus, I hear a loud voice call my name. I soon found myself in my bed. It was just a dream. but the weird thing was that on my way to the bus stop, this time actually awake, I hear the exact same voice call my name. I was shocked, so i quickly looked over, only to see my firend going to the same bus stop. This was one of the wierdest things that's happened to me.

It was a bright, sunny day here in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The birds were chirping, and squirrels hid in their bushes. I walked along the park trail, and deep into a breezy forest. Majestic trees covered the sunlight, as my surrondings get cooler. It was like my own secret world, a world away from distractions, a world unlike any other

When I grow up, I really want to go to the college, Army. I want ot do this because here have been many generations of my family in the army, on both my mom's side and my dad's side. It is also a very important thing to me to serve my country, and I would rather die a hero knowing I did what I could, rather die knowing I could do more. Another reason I want to go into the armmy is because I want to carry on my families tradition, not just to be cool or possibly famous. War is definatley something I feel very storngly about especially becuse my uncle, Brian Callison, is in the war and has to leave his cancer bearing wife and seven children every time he gets deployed, and all of them have to go to Germany for three years because of a new assignment for my uncle. I one day hope to be able to get this oppertunity, to travel the world serving my country in the harsh line of duty.

When I grow up I want to be in the navy seals. I want to be a navy seal because my dad was a Colonel in the Military, this inspired me to look into this occupation. Instead of going to be enlisted, I want to go to college ( maybe West Point) and get a masters so I when I join the navy I start out as a officer but, being enlisted would also be fine. The one thing I am scared of is when I am training the drill sergeant says, " You are a pathetic piece of crap". I hope to be a officer by September 14, 2025.

I love the piano, singing, and the clarinet. You could just say that I love anything that relates to music. Whether it be singing, playing the piano, or just listening to music, I absolutely love music. If music came up in any conversation, i would start talking loudly and say, "I love music, don't you? I play the piano, the violin, the clarinet, the synthesizer, the flute, and my voice." And from there, I would babble on and on about music. Music makes me feel happy, relaxed, and easy going. I live in Lake Oswego, OR, and i've played the piano for over eight years. Since then, i've come so far that you could say i'm a music geek.

Minecraft is a sandbox building/survival game created by Mojang, a game company. There are three modes of gameplay; survival, hardcore, and creative. Survival, the most popular mode, has the player gathering resources and food to survive in the randomly genenerated world of Minecraft. In this mode, the player starts in the Overworld, where he collects wood to make basic tools. Then, he starts mining for more complex material, such as iron, gold, redstone, and diamond, the most advanced material in the game. Hardcore is in essence survival mode, locked on the hardest mode and with cheat codes disabled. Creative is essentially the anti-hardcore mode; you have unlimited health, hunger, resources, can fly, and cannot be hurt by enemies that spawn in the gameworld. In this mode, your focus is to build instead of survive. People have built a lot of amazing things in this mode.

Three sports I really enjoy participating in are golf, volleyball, and soccer. I often play them in their own season, except summer. During the summer, I spend a lot of time golfing, but I also participate in camps for other sports and activities like volleyball and National Charity League. Last summer, I played in a huge golf tournament at the Oswego Lake Country Club on August 1st, 2012. In addition to these summer activities, I join a soccer league with my friends. I remember us laughing when my coach getting mad at us if we didn't yell, "GOAL!" after we scored a point.

Skating is one of my passionate sports that I'm good at. I like skating mostly because I can do it easily, rather than dancing or other things. Ill be honest I'm not a pro skater but I can do a few tricks, such as an ollie or a trick me and my friends made up. I've gotten hurt many times, mostly on my legs or hands. On occasions I will do a faceplant, it hurts but I take it as a man, get back up, and start skating some more.

Some of my hobbies include writing and drawing. To me, art and literature is a way to step away from reality for a brief moment, and let your imagination and dreams run wild on nothing but a piece of paper. In the future, I would like to publish at least one successful novel and sell my artwork as a part time job/hobby. Though, I know I have a long way to go to reach those goals, but I am confident that I can achieve them with effort and dedication. I want people to be able to relate the literature and art I create, so they can look at it and tell just how I was feeling when I created it. I’m happy with my set future goals, and strive to improve my writing and drawing skills in order to achieve them.

My character, Ruby, is like a part of me. I created her back in 4th grade and her looks have not changed at all. Thanks to her house cat-like body, she is roughly 3'5 when sitting down, but when standing on two legs, she is 5'8. Ruby also has grey eyes, brick red fur, and dragon wings. If Ruby asked me a question, she would say, "Why did you give me red fur?"

At least Luci enjoys the world, she makes room for it. I should too.
