When we watched three people perform the hajj I was surprised by the amount of judgement between the people. That because of the peoples race their faith was questioned. It was ignorant of the people asking if they were muslim, because how else would they be there. The amount of reward to the people once they finished was really inspiring, they had no doubts about coming on that journey.

When we watched "Inside Mecca" the biggest impression this documentary made on me was when the lady from U.S.A. said someone asked if she was a Muslim. This left an impression on me because to be able to go to these places you have to be a Muslim. This also left an impression on me because people judged her and that made her upset. Also they judged her when they are supposed to be kind and patient with everyone.

One thing that left a large impression on me is how much people go through just to go through their Hajj. Im impressed that a religion would spend this much time just to succeed their hajj. Im also supprised on how they can manage not to stress out even if someone is being irritating.

One thing that left an impression on my was the amount of people that went to Mecca. Whether it was for the for the hajj or to see the Ka'ba. Also what left an impression on me was how badly the people wanted to take the hajj. The lady from the US started to cry when she had just arived in Mecca and was about to see the Ka'baa

When I watched the documentary, the biggest impression it made on me was how much they had to do. I mean, Christianity and Judaism has baptisms and bar/bat mitzvahs, but Islam has so much more! I'm also surprised at how they have to walk through a big crowd during their Hajj.

When I watched the video the the biggest impression it made was that they are exact on circling the ka'ba 7 times and walking back and fourth between the hill 7 times.

When we watched the movie, one thign that made a big impression on me was about the lady form Texas. It was a big impression on me because she had to get either her husband's, or her son's permission to go on the hajj. This is because women dont have many fredoms in this religion. Also she had to go in a group just because she was a woman.

I thought that it was very interesting that the Muslims would toss stones at the three pillars,so it would be as if they were stoning the devil. In a way, I believe that this would be a great way to get rid of all your guilt, and all of your worries. It could also be a great anger reliever! Although, I was kind of curious as to how people were not getting hit on the head with the stones.

When our class watched "Inside Mecca", one of the biggest impressions left on me was the lack of acceptance between the Muslims during the hajj. It was surprising how the woman from Texas was questioned by the others. Just because she did not look Muslim, many wondered if she truly was a Muslim. It seemed very rude of them to question her motives, because why would a non-Muslim consider going on the long, tiring hajj?

During the movie, "Inside Mecca" I realized how many people cherish their religion. Though this may seem like a silly thing to say, I for one don't think about my religion very much but a lot of my friends are fairly religious. The practice of Islam is definetely and interesting thing to watch, but I couldn't imagine being in those huge crowds, I would get exteremly paranoid from those huge crowds.

One thing that really surprised me was how they sleep in all those tents. There were a lot of them and most had 2-3 people in them. I find it suprising of how much they go trough for all they do.

When we watched " Inside Mecca" the thing that left me a huge impression was the lack of acceptance between the Muslims. The American lady was questioned of her loyalty because she did not look Muslim. Another thing was when the mates in the African tent isolated the man because of his race. Before these events, I thought that all Muslims shouldn't be judged on their race and appearances, and everyone was equal because they all dressed the same.

Annaliese L. Red block said...

I was absent this past week, but what did impress me was how Muslims make sure that they go on their hajj before they die. This really impressed me because it takes a lot of effort to make this journey.

When I watched the short film, "Inside Mecca", I was impressed by the number of people that walked around the Ka'ba 7 times. Also right beside the Ka'ba is a smaller rectangular building that Muslims run inside of. They do, because it simulates when Muhammad's wife was searching for water, for there thirsty son.

The thing that left the biggest impression on me was the lady from Texas, and how she had to go through so much to go on her hajj. For example, she grew up in a Catholic family and when she converted to Islam, her parents were embarrassed and extremely disappointed because they did not approve. Also, her son had to sign for her to go on this trip because she needed a man's approval. Lastly, many people did not believe she was Muslim. However, she kept persevering the whole way through. I believe this shows that she is really passionate and committed to her religion.

when i watched the video, the biggest impression for me was that there were so many people. i was surprised about how they would all fit in the Ka'ba,and how all of them had to circle the Ka'ba exactly 7 times. in other religions, there isnt as many things to do, like in Christianity, you get baptized, and in Judaism, theres the bat/bar mitzvah. All of that is tiny compared to the hajj.

We have recently learned about the hajj. One thing I found interesting was how many people went to Mecca! I did not so many people from around the world went, and I didn't know how they could even hold that many people, there. I found interesti that they set up tents and separated them by where you were from. I also found interesting that everyone still go to chance to circle ka'ba. So far learning about Muslims is very interesting.

Kevin Miles, Blue Block said...

When we watched the movie "Inside Mecca" what had the biggest impression on me was actually the swarms of people, circling the Ka'ba. It truly amazed me, but personally I would never do that because it is too many people and I would get claustrophobic in such a small place. So that is what had the biggest impression on me.

Jack S. Red block said...

I was impressed that during ramadan, people have to fast for a whole month! How is that even possible? I cant go more than a few minutes without thinking about food. This would be a big challenge for me if I ever did this. I thought this was pretty cool.

When we watched the documentary about the hajj the biggest surprise was the judgement throughout the people. A lot of them judged each other and were separated by their races. Some people questioned the women from America if she was Muslim. I didn't understand why they all judged each other when anyone can practice Islam.

The biggest surpise t me was how many stages there where. there were so many i had trouble understanding were they where going. I wonder how muslims remeber all of the parts.

Galen Deats, Red Block said...

The person who left the most impact on me was the American Muslim from Texas, and how she was treated by other Muslims and the natives from Saudi Arabia. To me, a Muslim is a Muslim is a Muslim, and it's very sorry that some of them did not think this way.

Julia W. Blue Block said...

When we watched the "Inside Mecca" video, there were many things that left an impression in my mind. One main one was how they lived in the tent city. It just seemed crazy that they all slept in the same little tent. What if there was someone who was sleeping next to you who snored, or smelled bad? It impressed me how they managed to stay sane and devoted. I am not sure I would have stayed, I feel like I would have been needed to be sent to a mental hospital! I mean, their were SO many people! It surprised me to see that they survived.

When we all watched the "inside Mekkah" video in class, i learned alot about mekkah and the beliefs there, but the thing that struck me the most was how many people walk around the Ka'Bah at a time. To me, the amount of people at the Ka'Bah and the amount of people on the streets were shocking. Here in America, we arent used to being in large groups were you are inches from other people, but in Mekkah, almost all of the places are crowded with people cramped together.

Delaney T. Blue Block said...

When my class watched "Inside Mecca," the biggest impression left on me was the struggle the lady from Texas had to endure to become a Muslim and to visit Mecca for the Hajj. It must of been horrible for her to dissappoint her parents for not being a Christian, even though she knew she found a religion that she enjoyed more. Also, it was probably upsetting for so many people to believe that she was not a Muslim, just because she was American. Although after she completed the Hajj, the woman was fufilled and thankful that she had the chance to experience the journey as a Muslim.

I was impressed with the whole concept of fasting. I think going from sun rise to sun fall without any food would be extremely hard. Even though the purpose is to help people feel like the less-fortunate which I am totally for, I feel like starving the person that is fasting is not the way.

Hari Iyer, blue block said...

In the "Inside Makkah" video, I was amazed at the number of people all on their hajj at the same time. It surprised me that swarms of people all crowded to circle the Ka'bah, camp out, and visit the sites all at the same time. I definitely think it would be a cool experience, but also scary knowing that thousands of people are pushing against us to get to the center.

Parker lum, red block said...

What really left an impression on me was the sheer amounts of people. There were so many, probably thousands. Also i think they said the hajj would take several weeks that would be really something to commit to.

Kelsey D red block said...

When we watched "Inside Makkah", I was surprised that some people were questioning if the American was really Muslim. Obviously she's Muslim or else she would not be at hajj. Also I was shocked that some of the people were getting seperated by race. I thought that all of them wore the same clothing and it didn't matter what race they were. Even if you were poor you dressed the same as the wealthy, as long as you could pay for everything you were supposed to be treated the same.

Winston M. red block said...

When we watched "Inside Mecca" i was Blown away at how many followers of Islam gathered in one place at once to celebrate there religion. I was also shocked at how hard it was to do the Hajj. The joy they got for completing it overran the hard work they went through to complete their Hajj.

Isaac W. blue block said...

When we watched the three people do the hajj i was very surprised how many people asked the american girl if she was really muslim. I thought that was very interesting because as we were studying islam, muslims seemed very forgiving, giving, and just all around very good people and when they judged the woman because she looked american it was very weird. All the questioned made the girl very frustrated.

RYAN EARL.,RED BLOCK said...

When we watched "Inside Mecca" I thought that it was not fair how they questioned that persons race because on the hajj they weren't supposed to ask or question where someone came from, on the hajj they were all equals. I never knew how big of a deal it was to go on the hajj until this video. I thought it was some optional thing. When they finished the hajj I saw that they were happy that they had followed in Muhammad's footsteps.

Jake Ferdig w/ red block said...

The biggest impression on me while watching the documentary about the hajj, I think it was amazing how many people attend. This city goes from virtually zero people to over millions. The rituals the Islamic people carry out to finish, let alone start this big amazing journey is endless. I also think it was extraordinary at only people of the islamic faith and muslims are allowed in Saudi Arabia at this time.

Maya Waddell Red Block said...

something that surprised me was when i found out you can only be muslim for hajj. It also surprised me when the lady from the US said that some people asked her if she really was Muslim. At hajj i thought you were suppose to be nice and kind, but it was rude how people kept asking and judging her.

Kyle B. Red Block said...

I was absent when we saw the second half of the documentary about the hajj. I was there for the first half or so, which was enough info. to see something awesome. I was stunned when I found out that millions of people move in one direction with each individual having a goal of circling The ka'ba 7 times.

Alyana J. Red Block said...

As we watched "Inside Mecca", the large ritual surprised me the most. I was astounded by how much Muslims would go through to complete the hajj. It was also quite surprising seeing how the three Muslims we followed managed to not let their temper get to them even when others were being fairly rude towards each of them because their race or something else of the sort.

Kalanie T. Red Block said...

In the documentary we watched three people as they wen on their hajj.It was interesting, and very different to see how it was actually performed. The thing that interested me the most, was that some women went even when they were nine months pregnant, and sometimes women would have their baby on their hajj.

Alice P. Blue Block said...

When we watched "Inside Mecca", i was mostly out in the office, but when I came back, I was able to catch a glimpse of one going on the hajj. I was extremely shocked how everyone was divided into their races. African's were required to go to one section along the hajj. It also surprised me when people from different continents would be asked about their religion. It was rude, but none the less, she kept on going and pursuing her dream to see the ka'ba. Another thing that shocked me was how much everyone cherished their religion. They would go on the long walk to the ka'ba only to see how Muhammad felt. It surprised me how they would go through anything to see the Ka'ba and to see how Muhammad felt.

Sarah D. Blue Block said...

I think what left the biggest impression on me was how the trip to Mecca to all three people was slightly like a vacation, yet they all really stuck to there beliefs. All that was happening for each of them was happening so fast. Everything took a lot of faith in there religion and the choices that they made throughout their hajj. Since the trip to Arab was was very exciting, and they were all quite happy to go on the hajj there might have been a lot of things that could have been a distraction for them. In the end they really were loyal to there beliefs and did the hajj happily and seriously.

I think that people in Mecca are a bit too protective of themselves, and no disrespect, but racist too. That one American girl was "aline" too them, becuase she doesn't look Muslim. That,no offense, but i dnt know the name of, Black guy was seperated from all the people just becuase he was black. Again, no offence, but if they do at god's will, then the god is mean.
